In the picturesque hills, of Just Outside St. Louis, sprawled across aches of heaven, is Noboleis Vineyards
. Complete with wide open, blue sky and grapes on the vine, Ashley and Liesl held their wedding day. It was an all girls' day with eleven bridesmaids and two lovely brides. Autumn was just touching the landscape and the ladies picked, creams and reds, with touches of orange and yellow to set off the fanfare of color just scraping the trees. Both fathers of the brides were teary eyed with pride and love almost all day. Liesl's dad brought down the house with his toast, and Ashley's dad had us falling apart with true emotion, as they both regaled us the stories of beauty, truth and love of their daughters. I don't think I have ever laughed or cried so much during one set of toasts! Liesl's brother accidentally started to play the wrong song for the first dance, which had everyone laughing again, and Liesl gave a "hand across the throat" motion, which made us chuckle even harder. I think my favorite moment of the day, however, was the first look. I brought Ashley out into the vineyard, to wait for her bride. Ashley was a bit nervous and we chatted a bit about how the sun kept going behind the clouds, and then glaring back in, causing me to change my camera settings every 45 seconds. When Liesl arrive, (lead in by her entourage), Ashley's eyes were closed. She started to hear Liesl approaching, anticipating the site of her, for the fist time, on their wedding day, Ashley's face crumpled in tears, being truly humbled and overcome with the weight of this moment. It is such a miraculous thing to witness someone realize they are loved. The bridesmaids watched from a few rows over, peeking though the vines, witnessing the beauty of that moment. It was a blessing and an honor to capture the photos of such a warm and hospitable couple, and to capture such beautiful people in a beautiful place.
