Meet Mara. Class of 2016. She loves to read and trade closets with her friends. She works as a summer camp counselor and is an overall, fantastic girl. Thank you to Mara and her family for letting us capture some beautiful and silly moments as we celebrate this time in her life. Here are some of the favorites from her senior portraits session.

Viet and Michelle were married in her parent's home, here in South St. Louis. They had a traditional Vietnamese ceremony with the groom's processing bringing gifts are betel, fruit, cakes, a roast pig, fabric, and jewelry for the bride. The permission ceremony was followed by the formal tea ceremony, advice given by the family and the exchange of rings. It was all spoken in Vietnamese, so new to me and I didn't understand a word of it, but I had a lot of amazing guides helping me understand what the day would bring and beauty of Vietnamese culture. Afterward, we were asked to dine with the family, a feast including roast pig, and other traditional Vietnamese foods. I tried jellyfish salad, duck tough and pigeon before the night was through. In the afternoon Michelle changed into her Western wedding attire, stunning us all again with a beautiful white beaded, lace gown and veil. Then at the evening reception, held at Mandarin House, Michelle donned third dress, flowing and soft, made for dancing! And dancing there was! After a ten course dinner, there were toasts, and cake cutting, karaoke, mostly sung in Vietnamese, and lots of dancing! It was a thrilling day, full of firsts for me. It was an honor to be a part of Viet and Michelle's celebration and to experience such a fantastic array of color and food and language different from my own traditions. It will long be one of my fondest days. So thankful for the opportunity to shoot such a glorious day.

Another one of our favorite families and one of our favorite family photography locations. The Stokke family met me downtown at Central Library. Dressed in neutral themes with a pop of teal it made for a fantastic wardrobe against the beautifully restored library. Here are some of our favorites!

A Fall wedding in an apple orchard. Simple, elegant, and really fun! We were so excited to be joining the family in Troy, Illinois. What a lovely weekend for a beautiful farm wedding at Mills Apple Orchard. Wayne and Michelle put together a beautiful event, with most of the genius and work coming from Michelle's mom. Their friends and family worked tirelessly until the last minute making sure everything was in place. Blue skies, sunshine, and lots of smiles.

Stephen and Maryellen were married at the Pere Marquette Gallery on the St. Louis University campus. Their ceremony was covered in personal touches. The grooms uncle performed the ceremony. They were given a special blessing by SLU's own Dr. Biondi. And the couple recessed to a string quartet, arrangement of "I'm On the Edge With You" by Lady Gaga. All the flowers were beautifully arranged by a family friend. The toasts were touching and hilarious. And although we had a touch of rain that evening, Stephen and Maryellen went for a walk down Washington Avenue to take some amazing photos at the end of the night. It was a beautiful evening, and we were as always, so honored to be a part of the celebration for Stephen and Maryellen's wedding day.
